Saving and resuming form drafts

Find unfinished forms on your device, pick up where you stopped, tell a draft from a capture to send, and put right a refused form.

A draft is a form you have started but not submitted. A saved capture is one you submitted that hasn't finished sending. The office sees neither as a completed submission.

Keep an unfinished form

In the app, your answers save on the device as you work. When you leave a form with answers in it, Keep this as a draft? asks what to do: "Your answers stay on this device and come back the next time you open this form. Discarding deletes them." Choose Keep draft if you mean to come back, or Discard to delete those answers.

Drafts stay on that device for 14 days, for the form, the workspace and the record you were working on. Photos and signatures stay with the draft. A draft keeps the version of the form you started, so a later change to the form doesn't swap your questions or answers.

Find and resume it

Drafts on this device, listing an unfinished inspection with Continue and Delete draft

  • In the office, Forms › Drafts (n) in the header opens Drafts on this device.
  • On the phone, Me › My forms lists unfinished drafts above your submitted forms.
  • Opening the same form on the same record and device also brings its saved answers back.

Choose Continue to carry on. Check the record the form is about, finish any missing answers and Submit. The draft leaves the list once it has become a submission or a saved capture.

Delete draft removes an unfinished form from the device after you confirm: "The answers saved for {title} are deleted from this device. Nothing was submitted." It doesn't delete a submitted report, and it can't recall one already sent.

If you already tapped Submit

Look for the saved-capture banner and choose Review to open Saved on this device:

  • Waiting to send means the capture is on the phone and will send when there is a connection.
  • Needs attention gives the reason it was refused. A refused form can be put right: tap it, or choose Options → Open and fix.
  • Another workspace or sign-in · sends from there means you need to go back to the account and company that captured it.

Open and fix turns the form back into a draft, with your answers and the photos held on the phone, and opens it. Correct it and Submit: it goes as the same report, so the office never gets two. Sending it again unchanged with Send now only meets the same refusal. If the form has since been retired, Maliru says "This form is no longer available." and the capture stays in the list.

For anything else, use the item's Options → Send now once the problem is fixed. Loose evidence may also offer Retry in the job's Evidence view. Don't fill in another report just because the office can't see a queued one yet.

Discard in this list asks "Discard this capture?" and deletes the unsent capture and its photos from the phone. Only use it when you are sure you no longer need it. For recovery steps, see My report didn't send.

Drafts don't follow you to another device, and clearing browser data or uninstalling the app deletes them. Share-pack pages for guests save their progress online instead and don't appear in this list.
