Editing or cancelling a published route

Change a route's jobs, window, title or crew after publishing — and take back a cancel within 15 seconds.

Routes change: a job gets added, the day slips, or someone on the crew is off. Edit the route you already have — its jobs, its crew or its window — rather than building a new one.

A published route opened from the office, with Share report, Edit and Cancel route

Editing a route

Open the route (from its card, or the List row's Route actions › Open route) and choose Edit. The same board you built it on reopens as Edit route — {title}, with everything filled in: "The route's jobs are ticked. Tick more from this workstream or untick to remove them, then save."

You can change any of it in one pass:

  • Add jobs — tick more, or use Select by route to pull in another route.
  • Remove jobs — untick them. Their assignments are withdrawn; the jobs and their statuses are untouched.
  • Retitle, change the When window or the Start point, or change who it is given to under Give to (up to 20 people).
  • Plan stop order again to reorder the stops, drag them, or Clear the order (Crew plan and above). Jobs you add come after the planned stops until you plan again. See Allocating routes to a worker or crew.

The route's own jobs are listed first, and they stay available even when they are done — the board normally hides completed work. Check the selected count before you save.

For a published route there is one button, Save changes: the route is live, so there is no separate draft to keep. A draft route offers Save changes and Publish.

What the crew is told

  • Anyone you've just added is told "New route: {route}". Everyone else still holding it is told "Your route changed", and moving the route to another time asks them to confirm again.
  • Anyone you took off is told "A route was reassigned".
  • A crew is one allocation, so changing it updates that allocation rather than making a copy of the jobs for each person.
  • Added jobs appear in the route straight away; removed jobs disappear.

Everyone the change puts on a job — added people, added jobs, and everyone if the window moved — is checked against what the work requires, as at publishing on a published route. A refusal offers Assign anyway to people with Override eligibility; see Clashes, leave and who cannot go.

Changing only the title, the start point or the stop order doesn't ask anyone to confirm again. Moving the window asks everyone on the route to confirm again, and the reminders start over. Adding jobs or people asks the holders affected. Until they confirm, they read Awaiting confirmation.

Draft routes change silently — nobody is told until you publish.

Cancelling a route

Choose Cancel route on the route, or Route actions › Cancel route on its List row. The confirmation spells out what happens:

Cancel "{title}"? Its assignments are withdrawn and the card is removed. The jobs and their statuses stay.

Choose Cancel route to go ahead, or Keep route to back out.

The card disappears at once, and a bar at the foot of the screen reads Route cancelled with a countdown — "Undo within 15s". Choose Undo to put it back exactly as it was; nothing has been sent. When the countdown ends, or you choose Dismiss, the cancel goes through. See Cancelled by mistake? Undo within 15 seconds.

Cancelling removes the card from your Schedule and from every holder's phone. No job data is lost — any statuses already set during the route stay on the jobs. Everyone who held it is told "Route cancelled: {route}", unless the route is already over.

Common questions

Can I move one job to a different worker without breaking the route? Untick it in Edit, save, then schedule it on its own — on another route or as an ordinary shift.

Can a route have several workers? Yes, up to 20. Choose them all under Give to. They share one route and its progress, and each confirms for themselves.

Does editing reset confirmations? For everyone when the route moves to another time. Otherwise only for the holders whose route gained jobs, and for people you've added. A new title, start point or stop order doesn't.
