Notification preferences
Mobile, Web and Email by category and type, what a push shows, and the email reports you opt into.
Everyone controls their own notifications. In the office, open the account menu › Notification settings. On the phone, go to Me › Settings › Notifications. Both open the same settings:
"Choose what reaches you on each channel. Your in-app inbox always keeps every notification. Mobile is the app on your phone, Web is the app in a browser, and Email is a summary of what you missed, sent only on the mornings you ask for it under Reports."

The three channels
Every row has three switches, Mobile, Web and Email, and they're independent of each other. Silencing your phone doesn't touch the browser or the email summary.
- All notifications › Everything: "Pause a whole channel at once." It's the master switch for each channel.
- Categories: one row per area. The full list is Job assignments & shifts, Service levels, Time & leave, Credentials, Defects & issues, Help & requests, Maliru support, Mentions, Messages, Authorisations & permits, Assets & vehicles, Forms, Updates & announcements, Binder, Expenses & reimbursements, Commercial & invoicing, Bills & suppliers, People & approvals and Pay, then the locked Lone worker, Alert rules and Critical notices from Maliru. You only see the categories for modules and features your workspace has switched on.
- Types: open a category with its chevron to see the individual notifications in it. For example, under Job assignments & shifts you'll find You were put on a job, A job you're on changed, Reminder to confirm your job, A new shift was posted and A shift was cancelled. A type can override its category on any channel.
The order of precedence is simple: a channel pause beats a type override, and a type override beats the category. Mobile and Web start switched on.
Mentions has its own category on purpose. If someone names you on a job or a defect you still hear about it, even if you've muted that area.
Locked categories
Lone worker, Alert rules and Critical notices from Maliru read "Chosen by your admins. Only the Everything pause stops these." Their switches show on but can't be changed, because who must hear them has been decided for you. Critical notices from Maliru are Maliru's own urgent notices, such as an outage or an urgent security fix, so you hear them even if you've muted Updates & announcements. See Admin alert rules. A lone-worker escalation goes to the people on the escalation ladder even if they've paused a channel. Only the quieter follow-ups, such as Someone took a lone worker alarm, follow these switches.
What a notification says
The What a notification says card has one switch, Show the details. It's on unless you turn it off.
- Off: a push on your lock screen reads only "Open Maliru to view your update." You see what it's about when you open the app or the inbox.
- On: the push shows its title and message on your lock screen, in your own language.
"One can still arrive after you sign out, if your phone had no signal at the time." If you'd rather your lock screen didn't show what a notification is about, switch it off. The choice covers both push channels, Mobile and Web. Email is read in a mail app, so the switch doesn't apply to it.

On this device
The On this device card has one switch, When support replies: "While Maliru is open here: a short sound on a computer, a buzz on a phone." It's on unless you turn it off, and it's kept on each device separately, so a laptop at a desk and a phone in a pocket can have different answers. See Getting help inside Maliru.

When pushes arrive
Every notification is pushed to your phone and browser as soon as the change behind it is saved, whatever category it's in. A background pass every ten minutes is only a safety net, for a push that didn't go out the first time.
- Mobile: the Maliru app on your phone. Maliru asks for notification permission after your first sign-in.
- Web: browser notifications. Your browser asks for permission the first time. Clicking one opens Maliru at the right record. On an iPhone, browser notifications only work once Maliru has been added to the Home Screen and opened from there.
Email and Reports
Email in Maliru has one everyday shape: a single summary of what you haven't read. It isn't a copy of every notification.
The Reports card holds the scheduled emails. All of them are email-only, and pausing the whole Email channel stops them all.
- Weekly timesheet summary: "Your hours for the week, every Monday." It covers your hours, overtime, any entries needing attention and whether your timesheet is submitted. It's on unless you switch it off.
- Weekly dashboard digest: "Your dashboard's numbers for the week that ended, on the first morning of the workweek. Off until you turn it on." See Customising and sharing dashboards.
- Updates you missed: "One email at 07:00 listing what you have not read, on the days you choose below. Off until you turn it on."
- Weekly money summary: "What you are owed, what you owe and what needs action, for the seven days before each morning you choose below, at 07:00. Off until you turn it on." It has its own Send on days, starting on the first day of your workweek, and is offered only to people with Manage commercial or Manage bills & expenses. See The Commercial overview.
When you turn Updates you missed on, a Send on row of day chips appears, from Mon to Sun. Monday to Friday start selected. Tap a day to add or remove it, for example to get two mornings a week, Mondays only or all seven. You can't remove the last day: "Keep at least one day, or switch the summary off."
It's sent at 07:00 in your workspace's timezone and titled like "3 updates you missed on Maliru". On a day with nothing unread, nothing is sent.
The Email column in Categories stays greyed out until Updates you missed is on, with the note "The Email column is waiting on this: turn the summary on to choose what goes in it." Once the summary is on, the Email switches decide what goes into it. Some defaults are quieter: Messages, Updates & announcements and Binder are left out of the summary unless you add them, and so are frequent types such as A shift was updated, A form was submitted and comments on defects and measures.
Two things your settings can't silence
- The in-app inbox (the bell) keeps every notification, whatever your channel settings. See The notification bell and inbox.
- Admin alert rules deliberately ignore personal mutes. Only the Everything pause stops their push, and their email goes out regardless.
Share-pack invitations and access codes go to an outside recipient's email address. They aren't part of anyone's notification preferences.
Tip: field workers who find their phone too chatty should pause specific types, such as A form was submitted, rather than the whole Mobile channel. Shift and job notifications are worth keeping.
