Offers, free periods and founding prices
How founding prices work, what a free period on a paid plan is, and what happens when one ends.
Maliru sometimes offers a lower price or a free period. This article explains how they work. The exact terms of any offer are shown before you accept it and recorded against your workspace, so what you were offered never changes afterwards.
Founding prices
While founding prices are open, a workspace that subscribes to Team or Crew pays the founding price. The plan cards in the Plans dialog and the pricing page show it.
- You keep it for as long as you stay subscribed, including when you move between Team and Crew or between monthly and yearly billing.
- If the subscription lapses or is cancelled, the price goes with it. A later subscription is at whatever is on offer then.
- Founding prices are set in pounds, euros and US dollars, and you pay in your workspace's billing currency. See Which currency you pay in.
- Founding prices close with at least 30 days' notice. The closing date appears on the pricing page and in the Plans dialog as soon as it's set. Anyone subscribed before it keeps their price.
Private offers
The Maliru team can also send you an offer privately, as a link. Opening it shows exactly what it gives.
- Create your workspace sets up a new workspace with the offer already applied.
- I already have a workspace opens Maliru. The owner, or anyone with Manage subscription, sees "Accept this offer?" with its terms, and Accept offer applies it.
A link works once, until the date it shows. A workspace holds one offer at a time, and offers can't be combined.
Codes
If you've been given a code, choose Have a code? in the Plans dialog before you pick a plan. The dialog says what the code gives, and it applies when you check out.
Free periods
Some private offers, such as the design partner offer, start with a free period on a paid plan.
- No card is needed to start, and nothing is charged during the free period.
- The Plans dialog shows when it ends and the price after it, with Add a card. Adding a card early is fine: billing still starts the day the free period ends. You can choose monthly or yearly billing when you add it.
- Reminders go by email to the owner and anyone with Manage subscription, 30 days and 7 days before the end, and a banner appears at the top of the workspace on the web.
- If no card is added by the end, the plan carries on for a grace period (14 days, unless the offer says otherwise) while you add one. Billing starts the day you add it.
- If the grace period ends with no card, the workspace moves to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted: every record and file stays, and you can subscribe again at any time.
Plans, offers and cards are managed on the web. The iPhone and Android apps don't show prices or offers.
