Dark mode and row density

Choose light or dark and how tightly registers are packed. It's your own choice, on each device.

How Maliru looks to you is your own choice. It changes nothing for your colleagues, and it doesn't touch the workspace's colours, which are set under Branding.

In the office

Open the account menu (your avatar, top right) and choose Global settings. The first card is Appearance: "How the workspace looks to you, on this device. The colours themselves are the workspace's, under Branding."

Settings › Appearance with Dark selected and the whole office shown dark

  • Mode: System follows your computer's light or dark setting, while Light and Dark stay put whatever the computer does.
  • Rows: Comfortable or Compact. Compact draws every office register, such as Jobs, Users, Bills and Timesheets, with shorter rows, so more fit on the screen. It is one setting for every register, not one per page.

Both apply straight away. Anyone can change them, because they need no permission and are saved on this device only. Signing in on another computer starts from System and Comfortable again.

Every colour scheme has a dark version, so a workspace in dark mode still looks like itself: the sidebar, buttons and highlights keep the brand's own colour, lifted so it reads on a dark background.

On the phone

In the field app, open Me, tap the Settings gear, then Appearance. "Dark mode is easier on the eyes in a cab at night, and on your battery."

The field app's Appearance sheet with Match my phone, Light and Dark

  • Match my phone follows the phone's own light or dark setting.
  • Light is always light.
  • Dark is always dark.

The phone's choice is kept separately from the office's. The same person can keep the office light at a desk and the field app dark in a cab. Row density applies to the office registers only.

What this doesn't change

  • The workspace's colours and logo. Those belong to the workspace and are set by someone with Manage settings. See Workspace settings and branding.
  • Documents. PDF reports, invoices and pay statements come out the same whatever mode you read the app in.
  • Other people. Your mode and density are never applied to anyone else, and nobody else can set them for you.
