Your work: the Work tab and opening a shift

Two weeks of shifts and routes in one list, what each card does, and everything inside a shift and its job.

Work is everything you have been given, in one list: shifts and routes together, in the order they start. Today shows the day; Work shows the fortnight around it.

Upcoming and Past

  • Upcoming — "Next 14 days, including today." Work you have already completed drops out of this list.
  • Past — "The last 14 days", newest first, including completed work.

The banner at the top counts your assignments and how many are still to confirm. Only published work appears; drafts the office hasn't sent stay with the office. Pull down to refresh.

If your workspace uses the Binder, the Binder row at the top, Company documents, opens your company's documents, with a badge such as 2 to confirm when something is waiting for you. See The Binder: your company's documents in one place.

Work › Upcoming: a route card and two shift cards, one needing confirmation

What a shift card shows

Each card has the date and times, the job, the client and the site, and whether you have confirmed it — Confirmed, Declined or Needs confirmation. Its buttons:

  • Directions — opens the site in your maps app, when there is an address. The first time, the iPhone and Android apps ask which one ("Open directions in": Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps, whichever the phone has) and remember it. Change it in Me › Settings › Navigation app.
  • Capture — start a form, photo, defect or job update against this job.
  • Confirm — tell dispatch you have seen it and will be there.
  • Why can I not start? — when the job needs something you don't have yet, such as a credential or an authorisation. Maliru checks again first; if it has been put right you'll see "You are clear to start this work." If not, you can ask a supervisor to let you start anyway: "Asked. A supervisor will let you know." See When someone can't start: asking for and allowing a start.

If your workspace uses One job at a time, other shifts read "Finish {job} first" while you are on one, until somebody says how that visit went. See Your day on the Today tab.

Route cards work differently — one card for many jobs. See Working a route on your phone.

Inside a shift

Tap a card to open the shift:

  • When, Where and Team — everyone on the shift, each marked confirmed, not confirmed yet or rejected.
  • Last visit — how the last visit to this job went, once its crew or the office has said: its date, Works complete, Further works required or Visit aborted, and what that crew left to do or their notes. It is often the reason you are going. Once someone on your own visit says how it went, that outcome shows at the top of the shift too. On the iPhone and Android apps, both appear once the latest version is installed.
  • Notes for the team — what the office wants everyone to know.
  • Tasks · 2/5 done — the shift's checklist, for reference.
  • Files — documents shared with the shift. Tap one to open it.
  • Authorisations — the permits and approvals on the job, with how long each has left. Request asks the office for one; Request to end asks them to close one when the work is done — they decide whether to close it or keep it open, and you are told. See Authorisations and permits.
  • Buttons for Directions, Open job record and Capture.

While the shift still needs your answer, you'll also see Confirm and Reject shift. Rejecting asks for a Reason — "Your reason goes to the schedulers so they can re-cover the shift." You can't reject without one.

The job record

Open job record shows what the office shares about the job itself: the client and status, the Site, the job's Details and Notes, its evidence, and any of the workspace's own job fields shared with field staff — including documents, which open through a secure link. If the office shares nothing more, it says "No further job details are shared with field staff."

From a notification

A notification about one of your shifts opens that shift. One about an assignment opens Work with that card pinned at the top, marked Selected from Today.

On an installed app, your work for the coming week stays readable out of signal. Confirming and rejecting with no signal are saved on the phone and sent when signal returns; asking to start needs a connection. See Working with no signal.
