Not receiving notifications
The inbox always has everything. If pushes or emails aren't reaching you, a few switches are usually why.
First, open the bell. The in-app inbox keeps every notification, whatever your settings. If the inbox has it but your phone stayed silent, the record is fine, and it's delivery to that device that needs fixing. See The notification bell and inbox.
"Open Maliru to view your update."
A push that says only this means What a notification says › Show the details is switched off for you, so the lock screen doesn't show what the notification is about. It's on unless somebody turns it off, usually because a push can still reach a phone that signed out while it had no signal. To see the title and message on your lock screen, open Me › Settings › Notifications on the phone, or Notification settings in the office account menu, and switch Show the details on.
On your phone
- Phone permission. Maliru asks for notification permission after your first sign-in. If it was declined, the app stays quiet without any warning. That's deliberate, because the inbox is the fallback. Turn it back on in your phone's settings: Settings › Notifications › Maliru › Allow Notifications on iPhone, or Settings › Apps › Maliru › Notifications on Android.
- Your Maliru settings. Open Me › Settings › Notifications and check the Mobile column: the Everything switch first, then the category (for example Job assignments & shifts), then the type inside it.
- Signed in? A push only reaches a device that's signed in. If someone signed out, or the phone was handed over from another person, sign in again.
In your browser
- Browser permission. Your browser asks the first time. If notifications were blocked, allow them for your Maliru address in the browser's site settings, using the padlock or settings icon beside the address bar.
- The Web column in your notification settings works the same way as Mobile: Everything, then the category, then the type.
- Browser notifications only appear while that browser profile is signed in to Maliru.
- On an iPhone, browser notifications only work once Maliru has been added to the Home Screen and opened from there. An ordinary Safari tab can't receive them.
A whole category is missing or won't switch off
- A category for a module or feature your workspace has switched off doesn't appear at all. Nothing would ever arrive in it.
- Alert rules and Lone worker are locked: "Chosen by your admins. Only the Everything pause stops these." Your admins decided who must hear them. See Admin alert rules. A lone worker alarm, and your own "Check in now" reminder, get through even the Everything pause.
- Critical notices from Maliru is locked too. Only the Everything pause stops it.
Email isn't a copy of every notification. It's one summary at 07:00, in your workspace's timezone, of what you haven't read. If nothing is unread, no email is sent that day. A chat message itself is never in it, because you read it in the conversation.
It's also off until you ask for it. Open Notification settings › Reports, turn on Updates you missed, and choose the days under Send on. Monday to Friday start selected. Until that's on, the Email column above is greyed out, with the note "The Email column is waiting on this: turn the summary on to choose what goes in it."
Once it's on, check that today is one of your days, that the category's Email switch is on (Messages, Updates & announcements and Binder start switched off), that your account has an email address, and that your spam folder doesn't have "…updates you missed on Maliru".
The Weekly dashboard digest is separate. Switch it on under Reports too. It's sent on the first morning of your workspace's working week.
Specific cases
- "My worker didn't get the shift." Check their row in the shift's team list. Not confirmed yet means the assignment is published and they haven't answered. It doesn't prove a push reached their phone. Maliru reminds them once they have had time to answer, and tells the office if the reminder goes unanswered too. See Confirmations, declines and automatic reminders.
- A new route. Publishing a route tells each person on it once, "New route: {route}", and the route appears on their Today and Work tabs. Each person who hasn't confirmed is reminded for themselves, and the office is told if the reminder goes unanswered too. Changing or cancelling a route tells the people on it as well.
- Notifications from the wrong company. Notifications follow the workspace the device is signed in to. Use Switch company, or sign out and back in.
- A delay. Every notification is pushed as soon as the change is saved. A pass every ten minutes catches anything that didn't go out the first time. Alert-rule emails are checked every few minutes rather than instantly.
- Something you did yourself. Maliru never notifies you about your own action, such as a shift you published or a comment you posted.
- Maliru was open. A notification that arrives while you're using Maliru shows as a banner at the top of the screen, with Open, rather than as a phone or browser notification. A chat message in the conversation you have open isn't shown again.
If the bell inbox itself is missing something, tell the Maliru team: open Marie and choose Talk to a person from her menu (⋮). That one is ours to fix.
Share-pack invitation or code missing
Look for two emails: the pack link and its six-digit code. Check your spam folder, confirm your address with the sender, and use the newest link if a reminder or replacement was sent. The sender can see recipient delivery details under Forms › Shared.
Automatic pack reminders go to named recipients who haven't finished: every three days, up to three times, while the pack has at least a day left. People who joined through an open link don't get automatic reminders. A completion copy by email is only sent if the pack has that option switched on. See Pack templates, reminders and returned records.
