Your day on the Today tab

Clock in, see today's routes and shifts, confirm your work, and catch anything that needs you.

Today is the first thing you see in the field app. It brings your clock, today's work and your next actions onto one screen. Pull down to refresh it whenever you like.

Today on the phone: the clock card, a route and a shift under Today's shifts, and Needs your attention

The top of the screen

The bell opens your notifications, with a badge for unread ones. Directory beside it lists your colleagues with Call and Email.

Under the greeting is the clock card — Clock in at the start of work and Clock out at the end. See Clocking in and out.

If your workspace uses lone working, the Lone worker card sits under the clock. See Working alone: start a session and check in.

Today's shifts

Today's published shifts and routes are listed here; Schedule at the side opens Work for the days ahead. With nothing on, it reads "No shifts scheduled today".

  • A route is one card however many jobs it holds — "Route · 12 jobs · 7 done · 58%". Tap Confirm once for your part of it; anyone sharing the route confirms for themselves. If the office gave the route a start point, the card shows it with Directions. Open the card to work through its jobs. See Working a route on your phone.
  • A shift card shows the job, times, site and whether you have confirmed it. Directions opens the address in your maps app (the first time, the iPhone and Android apps ask which one), Capture starts a record against the job, and Confirm tells dispatch you have seen it. Tap the card itself for the full shift — notes, tasks, files and the job record. To turn a shift down, open it and use Reject shift: a reason is required, and it goes to the schedulers so they can cover the work. See Your work: the Work tab and opening a shift.

If your workspace uses One job at a time, once you have started a shift the others read "Finish {job} first" until somebody says how that visit went. At clock-out, How did your visits go? asks for each visit: Works complete, Further works required or Visit aborted, with what was done. A crewmate or the office can report it too. Clock out without one and you'll see "Without an outcome, you will have to report this visit before you can start another job today." On route work, ticking I have finished this job at clock-out does the same. See Clocking in and out.

Needs your attention

A ranked list of things only you can act on. Depending on your work and access it can include:

  • "2 captures waiting to send" — tap to try sending now.
  • "Still clocked in from a previous day" — tap to clock out and say when you finished.
  • "1 shift to confirm" — shifts and routes waiting for your confirmation.
  • Forms overdue, or forms due today.
  • Defects assigned to you.
  • Updates you still have to acknowledge.
  • Credentials expired or expiring soon.
  • "Last week's timesheet not submitted".
  • Binder documents to read and confirm ("1 document to read and confirm"), and inductions: due soon, overdue, sessions you run today and steps waiting for your sign-off.

Tap a row to go straight to it. Rows for things this app can't open for you are left out. When nothing is waiting: "You're all set — nothing needs you right now".

Waiting on others

Things you are waiting for a manager to decide — Timesheet awaiting approval, Time change requests and Time-off requests — appear under Waiting on others. They are progress, not tasks. Tap one to open your timesheet.

Forms due

Forms due lists the scheduled forms you owe, each with Due today, Due tomorrow or Overdue by 2 days and what it is about. Tap one to fill it in on its record:

  • Any vehicle — opens on the vehicle assigned to you, or lets you pick.
  • Any job — if you're an owner or hold Manage jobs, a searchable job picker with today's jobs first; otherwise a choice from your own assignments for the next 14 days. Check the job before you start.

Fuel and updates

Filled up? — "Log the fill while you are still at the pump." — appears when your workspace tracks fleet running costs. See Logging a fuel fill from your phone.

Updates shows up to three team updates: anything marked Required read that you haven't acknowledged comes first, then pinned updates, then unread ones. The rest are under Chat › Updates.

Some of these also raise a row under Needs your attention. The row is a shortcut to the same thing, not a second task.

Out of signal

On an installed app, Today opens with no signal and shows the last copy it loaded: "No signal. Showing your saved copy from 07:12. Pull down to refresh when you have signal." The copy can't show anything the office changed since. Under the header, "Ready for no signal" says when the phone last saved your coming days; tap it to see what is saved or to update it. See Working with no signal.
